HFA had a great Leap Day! For the extra day, we had an extra challenge for staff! We asked for photos throughout the day of pictures with frog books (leap, get it? :), measuring devices to measure the extra day, photos with 29 things, and photos from the last leap year, 2020!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, Mrs. Conners had Dr. Seuss day yesterday in her grade 3 class! Her students became immersed in the magical world of Dr. Seuss and even tried green eggs and ham! Mrs. Tina Fleck is this years recipient of the Christian Witness Award for Holy Family Academy. Award recipients were recognized during our district Faith Days this week in Okotoks. Christian Witness Award winners are those who demonstrate a Christ-like attitude and servants heart, and are nominated by their school staff. Congratulations Mrs. Fleck!

We are now accepting applications for Non-Certificated Classroom Supervisors (NCCS). Casual, on call positions are available at all Brooks schools. Under the direction of the administrator, NCCS' will supervise students, maintain a positive learning environment, and follow a set day plan in the event a teacher is absent and a certified substitute teacher is not available. A Bachelors degree or diploma in a field related to youth, education, social work, or recreation, and 3-5 years of experience working with youth, is preferred. Ready for a Friday morning workout with your child? As we have entered the Lenten Season, we would like to invite you to join us on Friday Mornings in our gymnasium for an active Stations of the Cross. From 8:00 am until 8:30 am, please join us in the gym with your child. If you can’t make it right at 8:00, please join in the gym whenever you can make it, and stay for as long as you are able. When you arrive, please choose a station to start at that is least busy (they are indicated by white posters with purple borders on the gym wall). We will spend about a minute and a half at each station. While there, there is a prayer for your small group to recite and then there is an exercise or an activity to do for the remainder of the time so that in some small way our students, parents, and staff can get a bit tired or uncomfortable as Jesus was. If you prefer to substitute any of the suggested exercises, feel free as well. We will host these stations of the cross four times during lent, tomorrow morning - February 16th, and then again on March 1st, 8th, and 15th. #HFAallTheWay #CTRcatholic #activestationsofthecross

Yesterday, HFA was blessed to have the Knights of Columbus and our Parent Community provide pancakes for Shrove Tuesday and so many goodies for the Grade 2 bake sale! Thanks for all the love!

Nickels for the Needy Every year during Lent HFA takes part in almsgiving. This year we are donating money to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This charity works through St. Mary's Parish helping to provide for those in need in our own community. We are reminded in the gospel of Mark that even a small coin pleases the Lord. Mark 12:41-44 "Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. On Friday we celebrated our 100th day of school. It also happened to be our open house so parents were able to come into classes and check out all the fun learning taking place. Some students dressed like they were 100 years old while other wore shirts with 100 items on them! #HFAallTheWay #CTRCatholic #100thdayofschool
