Digging into science has never tasted so good! 🪱🍫 Mr. Mercado’s Grade 3 scientists had a "dirt-tastic" time on Friday learning about the layers of the soil. They built their own soil profiles using layers of cookies (bedrock), chocolate syrup (subsoil), and gummy worms (organic topsoil)! Due to the extreme weather conditions that are forecast (see the earlier email from Christ the Redeemer regarding bussing this afternoon), we will need to CANCEL the 6:30 Christmas Concert for Grade 1 and 3 this evening. Tomorrow is Halloween! Students are welcome to wear costumes to school. Costumes must be elementary school appropriate (no blood, weapons, 'scary' masks, etc). As well, students must be able to get in and out of their costumes on their own.

Do you want to skip the morning school traffic/busses first day of school? Is your child taking the bus on the first day and you're worried about them taking the bus with all of their supplies?! Well, dont worry! HFA has their open house this Wednesday from 11:30am-1pm. You can drop off school supplies, find your child's classroom/teacher, and meet the amazing staff! #HFAallTheWay #HFAopenhouse

The grade 3/4 drama club has been working really hard under the direction of Ms. Hope and Ms. Conners the last couple of months. Drama club members are acting in a series of short skits of fractured fairytales. Anyone is welcome to attend these performances and parents are encouraged to stay, but if unable to do so, they must ensure their child is picked up by 5:45. Ready for a Friday morning workout with your child? 🏃‍♀️🤸‍♂️💪👟 As we have entered the Lenten Season, we would like to invite you to join us on Friday Mornings in our gymnasium for an active Stations of the Cross. From 8:00 am until 8:30 am, please join us in the gym with your child. If you can’t make it right at 8:00, please join in the gym whenever you can make it, and stay for as long as you are able. When you arrive, please choose a station to start at that is least busy (they are indicated by white posters with purple borders on the gym wall). We will spend about a minute and a half at each station. While there, there is a prayer for your small group to recite and then there is an exercise or an activity to do for the remainder of the time so that in some small way our students, parents, and staff can get a bit tired or uncomfortable as Jesus was. If you prefer to substitute any of the suggested exercises, feel free as well. We will host these stations of the cross five times during lent, tomorrow morning - March 7th, and then again on March 14th, March 28th, April 4th, and April 11th.

Psssssssst! 👂 Did you hear?!? HFA School Council is hosting a Read-A-Thon fundraiser event from February 14th - March 10th. Fundraising packages were sent home before the break. If you wish to partake in this fundraiser, simply set a reading goal with your child and have family, neighbour's, friends, etc, donate money to encourage them to meet their readings goals.
