Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS)

HFA/CTK/SJC are fortunate to have the services of three SWIS workers. The Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program is an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada funded program, The SWIS program places settlement workers from community agencies in elementary and secondary schools that have high numbers of newcomer students.

The SWIS worker proactively contacts newcomer parents and students to assist them with their settlement needs and refers the families to more specialized community resources as needed. Our SWIS workers' office is located in Holy Family Academy.
